Courtenay Sands
Team: Wake 'N Shake Exec
Dancing for: My father, John Bunker Sands. He passed away from pancreatic cancer on March 4, 2003
Bio: Hey, y'all! My name's Courtenay Sands! I'm a sophomore, a fourth-generation Dallasite, a follower of Christ, and a confidently bad dancer. One month before my birth, I lost my father to pancreatic cancer; I lost my uncle, David, to various types of cancer when I was four. My dad's cousin, Lyda, is a breast cancer survivor, and my grandmother, Moozie was a cancer survivor too. My grandmother's brothers also suffered from cancer. Needless to say, I know first-hand the suffering this disease brings, and so I am dedicated to doing all I can to help fight it. Wake N' Shake is a 12-hour dance marathon that raises money for the Brian Piccolo Cancer research fund. Last year alone, the event raised over $300,000 for cancer research, research that led to the funding of the development of a new cancer drug! I feel honored to get to raise money for such a good cause, and be an exec member of Wake 'N Shake!
Dancer has raised $5,000.00 which is 100% of their goal of $5,000.00.
