Bio: Hello friends and family! This March, I am participating in Wake Forest’s annual 12-hour dance marathon, Wake ‘N Shake! This year, I’m dancing for my grandfather, who passed away from cancer in 2012. All proceeds go towards the Brain Piccolo Cancer Research Fund which helps support innovative cancer research initiatives that improve care for patients. Every dollar counts in the fight to beat cancer! Since Wake Forests’s first Wake ‘N Shake, students have raised over $4.5 Million dollars, donations that have contributed to supporting the clinical trial phase of a new drug for pancreatic cancer, funded the Hispanic Patient Navigator position—which has proved instrumental in improving patient access to care and increasing clinical trial participation, and supported the purchase of nanoparticle generation and detection equipment, which lead to increased funding for cancer research projects.
